Whatcha Gonna Do With A Cowboy
By Jodi Linton
The Deputy Laney Briggs Series
The Deputy Laney Briggs Series #1
She’s dead-set on giving one bullheaded cowboy the boot.
Welcome to Pistol Rock, Texas where everyone knows secrets last about as long as the sporadic west Texas rain showers.
Laney Briggs has long been considered reckless, but she’s turned herself around—she’s respectably engaged and she’s become a Pistol Rock deputy sheriff. Everything’s fine until a dead body turns up and her ex, Texas Ranger Gunner Wilson, decides to stick his boots into the town’s first murder case.
Laney will be damned if she lets Gunner trample all over her turf and her chance at a quiet, contented life. His seemingly endless ability to undermine her resolve and her libido was only outdone by her constant urge to butt heads with him. But when the bodies start to pile up, Laney has to ask the lethal bad boy for a hand—and a truce in exchange for his help.
Having an ex-boyfriend as an ally might not be the best idea, but Laney has always been pretty reckless…
Warning: Contains a sassy female deputy with a knack for getting knee-deep in trouble; a sexy Texas Ranger hell-bent on winning his woman’s heart back; and an old love blazing a wildfire of passionate memories.

Pretty reckless is book #1 in the Deputy Laney Briggs Series and the first book I have read by this author. I have been lucky enough to have been gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review so here goes…
As a kid I always remember watching murder mysteries with my mom. She loved all of the Agatha Christie and things like murder she wrote!!
This book reminded me so much of a murder she wrote episode. Laney is our Jessica Fletcher but she was a hell of a lot more kickass!!!
I’m so jealous of Laney stomping about in her red cowboy boots solving crimes and causing trouble.
This book is also funny; the humour is dry and sarcastic and had me chuckling.
I’m sorry to say but I kinda fell for Gunner he’s so obnoxious and annoying. I felt myself rolling my eyes at times but there’s something about the cocky ‘I always get what I want’ attitude that’s also sexy and endearing.
No spoilers but I totally suspected that it was who it was quite early on.
Is it weird that I really liked Luke I get the impression that he really cares about Laney. I feel a bit sorry for him.
God I’m a bit overwhelmed by all the cowboy man candy…swoon!!!
I really enjoyed all the mystery and tension, it just kept building and building and by the end I was on the edge of my seat.
This book was fab, it was an old school murder mystery with enough dry humour to have me chuckling and smiling my head off.
Pretty Reckless gets 4 stars from me
Whatcha Gonna Do With a Cowboy
The Deputy Laney Briggs Series #1.5
Some cowboys are worth getting dirty for.
In her latest adventure, sassy Deputy Laney Briggs discovers the local high school football coach passed out under the stadium bleachers wearing nothing but a smile…and his wife’s lingerie.
Things really start to get wild when she runs into the smoking hot Federal Marshal, Colt Larsen, snooping around the Granger’s house. Quicker than a cold snap comes and goes in Texas, Laney finds herself up to her eyeballs in a case involving a ruthless motorcycle gang, a Mexican drug cartel, a kidnapping, and a shoot-out to rival the O.K. Corral.
In over their heads, Laney calls in the big guns—her very own Texas Ranger, Gunner Wilson, who’s ready to fulfill every last one of her desires. But as things heat up between them, the stakes get higher than ever, and Gunner’s help may not be enough for Laney to get out alive…
Warning: Contains mind- blowing sex between a dirty-talking cowboy who loves to spank and a smart-mouth cowgirl who isn’t shy when it comes to demanding what she wants.

|Whatcha Gonna Do With A Cowboy is book #1.5 in the Deputy Laney Briggs Series.
I’m not normally a fan of novellas but this one totally worked for me. It had a new sexy cowboy to swoon over, a good dose of drama and intrigue and Gunner lol.
I love that Laney seems even more badass in this story, she’s such a funny character you instantly like her. To be honest I spend half the story just looking forward to what’s gonna come out of her mouth next!!!
The mystery element was just involved enough to grab you attention and get you engrossed in the story but not so complicated that it has to rush to be concluded in a novella length story.
Whewww this book has some very naughty but super sexy sex scenes. In the first book in the series the sex is sort of faded out and we don’t get any detail. Jodi Linton has obviously decided to up the sex factor and give us all of the filthy details and hell they were hot!!!
This series is really funny every character is sort of tongue in cheek and hilarious.
The award for best character totally goes to Laney’s dad he had me cracking up!!!
Colt, Colt, Colt for a minute I did think that he would be joining the Laney Briggs appreciation society along with Gunner and Luke. But then his ex and all that drama took over and I’m kind of glad that he’s just a big flirt and not going to start pouting over Laney and Gunner being all loved up.
Gunner and Laney are both kind of dirty talkers, in any other book anyone saying ‘Cowboy’ in a sexual context would have me wetting myself with laughter but god when they say it, its kinda saucy!!!
I really enjoyed this novella and I’m really looking forward to the next instalment in this series.
Whatcha Gonna Do With A Cowboy gets 4 stars from me.

Growing up in a small Texas town didn’t have many perks, but it allowed for some colorful writing material. After settling down with her family in central Texas, Jodi found her passion: writing kick-ass, southern contemporary romance stories. Today she can be found cozied up to the computer escaping into a quirky world of tall tales, sexy, tight jean wearing cowboys, and a protagonist with a sharp-tongue quick enough to hang any man out to dry.
