They say when you assume that you make an ass out of you and me.
Kenton Mayson learned this lesson firsthand when he made assumptions about Autumn Freeman and the kind of woman she is based on what little information he had. What he finds out is she’s not only beautiful, but also smart, funny, a fighter, and exactly the kind of woman he wants to share his life with.
Autumn made assumptions of her own about Kenton, and now he needs to prove her wrong in order to protect her and their future.
Assumption is book #1 in the Underground Kings Series. It’s the first book I have read by this author but I have an ARC of the second book so I thought I would start the series at the beginning.
Autumn is prickly; it’s understandable and actually quite endearing. I liked her, I liked that she wasn’t the typical dumb girl she has substance and I like that.
Now this book is full of strong alpha men!!! I mean it’s a smorgasbord of hot dominant men I was in heaven.
Kenton is to be honest at the start a bit of a dick!!! He’s judgemental and rude but he does get better!!
In fact in the end he’s kind of perfect!!!
I love the relationship between Autumn and Kenton they have a definite connection. I love how Kenton really wants to look after and protect Autumn. It’s another aspect of his alpha role but it still made me swoon!!!
There’s a touch of drama but it doesn’t overshadow the romance. This is the first book in this series but it appears that this is a spinoff of another series. Now although this book is definitely a standalone I feel like I could have benefited from understanding the background of some of the other characters as well.
This book has a bit of everything in it, romance, smut, drama, mafia and bad guys, there is seriously something for everyone!!
I like Kenton and Autumn, they have great banter and their interactions always seemed effortless.
Assumption was a nice easy read and an intro to the series ready for my review on book #2
Assumption gets 4 stars.
