Bait is book #1 in the Wake series; I was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review so here goes….
When I spoke to M. Mabie the first thing she said is this book is about cheating with a cliff-hanger if this bothers you then it’s not the book for you and I wouldn’t suggest you read it. I’ve got to be honest I knew right then and there that I was going to love this book!!! She was so straightforward and candid, there was just no bullshit and I actually really appreciated it!!
I told her that cheating wasn’t an issue but if there was a cliff-hanger then she had to agree then and there to give me an ARC of the next book as I could guarantee that I would NEED to read it.
She then told me that previous readers had needed to congregate in a support group on Facebook to recover from this book lol. Here’s the link because I warn you, you’re going to need it https://m.facebook.com/groups/1558569964373320?view=group&refresh_sidenav=1
I’m honestly not sure where to start but right off the bat this is one hell of a book, I feel like I’ve got a bit of a book hangover from this story. That may sound daft but I’m literally frustrated, angry, saddened, turned on, loved up and appalled all at once.
I understand that cheating is a hard limit for some people and there is definitely cheating in this book, however and this may sound insane but you kind of forget about the cheating aspect or at least you agree with your brain to overlook it lol, or at least I did!!
This is such an intense story it’s difficult to know where to start but Blake is probably as good a place as any! Blake evokes very mixed feelings in me, I kind of loved and really hated her both at the same time, I empathised with her and then wanted to reach into the book and slap the bitch the next second.
I really don’t want to give away any spoilers so this may all seem really vague, especially as the blurb literally gives nothing away apart from the cheating aspect.
I will say that although there is Blake, Grant, Casey and Aly for me Grant and Aly may as well have disappeared, cause really Grant who??? I didn’t care who he was or how he felt, that may make me a horrible person and maybe I’m supposed to care and sympathise with him but I really couldn’t care less!!
This story is just Casey and Blake and this intense, insane, destructive, whirlwind, romantic, nightmare.
Casey is just adorable, for the record I’m completely Team Casey, he’s sex on legs whilst still being a cheeky chappy with a sensitive side. In short he is perfection and I kinda LOVE him!!
This story is none stop and kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish, you know it’s a good book when you carry your kindle with you everywhere I just couldn’t put it down.
This book has got me so mixed up, I should hate Blake, I should think that her and Casey are a massive mistake and be willing him to find someone better and for them both too move on with their lives.
But instead I found myself immersed in them and their messed up world, I got completely caught up in them and their drama. I need the next book like now and it doesn’t come out till Jan 15 L.
This book is the most frustrating, nightmare but brilliant 5 stars ever~!!!
