Kissing Madeline by Lex Martin
Scroll down for reviews of Dearest Clementine (Dearest #1) & Finding Dandelion (Dearest #2)
After catching my boyfriend getting deep-throated by a skanky cage girl, I’ve learned my lesson – never date a professional athlete. Never. Besides, I have more important things to worry about, like not blowing my shot to make it as a broadcast reporter. I won’t let anything get in my way, not even the new “it boy” of the NFL and my hot-as-hell neighbor.
What’s the worst thing about getting death glares from his new neighbor? It doesn’t make him want her any less.
I’ve worked my ass off to make it to the pros. The last thing I need is the complication of a relationship, especially since my last one was a total train wreck. But I can’t stop thinking about the feisty girl next door with the smart mouth. And I’d love nothing more than to show her what to do with that mouth.
Friends with benefits might be the best idea he’s ever had. Or the worst.
Kissing Madeline is a companion novel to DEAREST CLEMENTINE and FINDING DANDELION. Each book is a stand-alone.
Kissing Madeline is book #3 in the Dearest series, I have been lucky enough to be gifted an ARC of this book to read for Gemma Reads Too Much.
I have read the three books in this series back to back and I have to say that Kissing Madeline is the absolute best so far!!!
This book really amps up the sexy time fun, Maddie and Daren are at it constantly and the sex is HOT!!!! I felt their connection and the sex scenes are passionate and intense but they still have an element of fun and cuteness that keeps it a romance rather than erotica.
I should hate Daren, he cheated on Clementine, but the thing is I have always thought he was lovely!!! Yes he has had dickhead moments but generally he’s a knight in shining armour and a generally nice guy!!!
I would love my daughter to find a guy as genuinely sweet and loyal as Daren, honestly he made me swoon just at how adorable he is!!
Can I just say I totally guessed who was behind it all early on but I still loved how it played out. This book is really a nod to modern culture and how people and especially people in the public eye truly have no privacy at all!!
I’m so glad that all of the guys from the previous books made an appearance in this one, I love a group cast and so this series totally worked for me.
One question though where was Harper??? I enjoyed her insight and I missed her happy ending!!
I’m not sure if this book heralds the end of this series, i’m guessing the lovely epilogue at the end suggests that it will, but I for one will be sad to say goodbye to these characters.
This book ticked all the boxes for me, sweet romance, hot guy and loads of hot sex (yes I need that in a book lol). I would totally recommend this series to purist romance junkies or my friends and family looking for a great holiday read.
Kissing Madeline gets 4.5 stars from me.
DEAREST CLEMENTINE (Dearest, #1 – Clementine & Gavin)
Twenty-year-old Clementine Avery doesn’t mind being called bitchy and closed off. It’s safe, and after being burned by her high school sweetheart and stalked by a professor her freshman year of college, safe sounds pretty damn good.
Her number one rule for survival? No dating. That is until she accidentally signs up for a romance writing class and needs material for her latest assignment. Sexy RA Gavin Murphy is more than happy to play the part of book boyfriend to help Clem find some inspiration, even if that means making out…in the name of research, of course.
As Gavin and Clem grow closer, they get entangled in the mystery surrounding a missing Boston University student, and Clem unwittingly becomes a possible target. Gavin tries to show Clem she can handle falling in love again, but she knows she has to be careful because her heart’s at stake…and maybe even her life.
Dearest Clementine is book #1 in the Dearest Series and the first book I have read by this author. I was gifted a copy of this book to read for Gemma Reads Too much.
I LOVE Clementine she’s as mad as a box of frogs but so incredibly sweet that you can’t help but adore her. She thought and verbalised all of the insecurities that women have at the start of a relationship. But never at any point did she feel cliché or overly processed.
When she went full-blown Ice Queen I absolutely cackled she was brilliant all hail queen Clementine!!!
Gavin, Gavin, Gavin god he’s was cute, at times he was almost a bit too sweet, but when he threatened Wheeler I swear I melted. He was the perfect balm for Clem and all of her cray cray lol
This book has a bit of everything, a love story, good friends, intrigue and a good dose of chilling suspense.
Personally I feel like the drama could have been amped up another few notches. Wheeler was a terrifying villain, he only made a few threatening comments but something about him made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up!!!
I’m super pleased to say that I really liked all of the characters in this book, Clem and her friends had a wonderful witty banter between them and it felt real and authentic.
I am soooo looking forward to Jax and Darren’s books!!!
This book was great, it’s a quick read but it will keep you interested start to finish.
Dearest Clementine gets 4 stars from me.
FINDING DANDELION (#2 – Jax and Dani)
When soccer all-star Jax Avery collides with Dani Hart on his twenty-first birthday, their connection is instantaneous and explosive. For the first time in years, Jax isn’t interested in his usual hit-it and quit-it approach.
But Dani knows better. Allowing herself a night to be carefree and feel the intensity of their attraction won’t change anything when it comes to dealing with a player. So when Jax doesn’t recognize Dani the next time he sees her, it shouldn’t be a total shock. The fact that he’s her new roommate’s brother? That’s a shock.
Dani doesn’t regret that night with Jax, just the need to lie about it. Since her roommate has made it clear what she thinks about her brother’s “type” of girl, the last thing Dani wants is to admit what happened.
Jax knows he’s walking a fine line on the soccer team. One more misstep and he’s off the roster, his plans to go pro be damned. Except he can’t seem to care. About anything… except for the one girl who keeps invading his dreams.
Despite Jax’s fuzzy memory of his hot hookup with his sister’s friend, he can’t stay away from her, even if that means breaking his own rules. But there are bigger forces at work–realities that can end Dani’s college career and lies that can tear them apart. Jax realizes what he’s losing if Dani walks away, but will he sacrifice his future to be with her? And will she let him if he does?
Finding Dandelion is book #2 in the Dearest series, I was lucky enough to be gifted a copy of the book to read for Gemma Reads Too Much.
I enjoyed the first book in this series, but I LOVED the second instalment, Jax and Dani were just so…. stupid!! This book is almost a comedy of errors daft, the couple falter again and again because they are so jaded that they can’t see what’s right in front of their faces.
I loved the connection Jax and Dani had right from the start; their chemistry was palpable and so cute. Don’t get me wrong they are obviously lusting for one another but I never felt like that was the only reason they wanted each other.
Jax is an idiot both he and Dani were incredibly immature and although it was part of their charm I did have a couple of “oh for goodness sake grow up” moments.
I loved Travis he was just the right amount of gay best friend to be funny but not so in your face camp that his character became a cliché.
Who else could totally have been converted to Team Brady??
For some reason Jax and Dani’s book feels much deeper than Clementine’s book, like the author really related to these characters.
I will admit that I cried quite a bit at this book, once you read it you will know which bits did this to me and understand why!!
The sex was surprisingly hot and passionate!!!
Lex Martin writes great romance, this is a lovely easy love story that will touch you and put a smile on your face. I’ve only read two out of the three available in this series so far but I would totally recommend you buy all three to submerse yourself in these characters’ world.
I LOVED Dani’s mom she was so cool!!! Her best line was along the lines of “if you’re going to curse really mean it”
Well I Fucking adored this book!!
Finding Dandelion gets 4 stars from me!
