Pepped Up – All Pepped Up – Pepped Up & Ready
That is, until running star Ryan Harding moves to town.
When it comes to running, Pepper’s goals are clear. But when it comes to Jace and Ryan, it’s nowhere near as simple.
Pepped Up is the first book in the Pepped Up series and the first book I have read by this author, I was given this book in exchange for an honest review so here goes…
The good Bits…
- Pepper she’s sweet and innocent and generally adorable.
- Jase, hmmm yeah I like him, I like him a lot lol
- Gran aka Bunny is brilliant!!
And the not so good bits…
- It’s rare that I ever feel sorry for the ‘other’ guy but I feel a bit bad for Ryan.
Ok this book is adorable, I love Pepper she feels very young and naive in comparison to the rest of the characters but it makes her even more endearing.
This is a book set in high school but to be honest it could easily be set at college, Pepper is a focused athlete and I enjoyed the school element without the typical football and basketball drama.
I loved how Pepper & Jase interacted even though he behaved like a big brother like figure his protectiveness and love for her was sexy as hell.
I love Jase he’s a strong, but incredibly sweet BFG, for me you can’t beat a brooding dark guy who would do anything to protect you. But on the flip side Jase is incredibly vulnerable and torn over his feelings for Pepper.
I have to say I do feel a bit bad for Ryan, I don’t think he ever really stood a chance and for once I quite like the ‘other’ guy. Don’t get me wrong I still want Pepper to be with Jase but I would like Ryan to find a happy ending too.
This book goes from mature with the characters drinking and dealing drugs to very sweet and innocent with Jase making Pepper a friendship bracelet.
For most of the book the story is pure as the driven snow but in spots its skirts the edges of YA, I could feel the chemistry between Pepper & Jase I’m kinda hoping that the next book will be a bit sexier cause there’s nowt wrong with a bit of sexy times lol.
I’m not exactly sure what direction the next book will take as Pepper won the national champs so she achieved her goal where is she going to go from there….
I love Gran she was hilarious, when she made Pepper try shots before she went out drinking was pure genius!! Seriously I want a bootie shaking, pot smoking nutter for a Gran too please!!!
This book is a lovely, smiley nugget of niceness and I really enjoyed it 4 stars from me!!
All Pepped Up is book #2 in the Pepped Up Series, I read and loved the first book in the series and have been lucky enough to be given an ARC by the publishers in exchange for an honest review so here goes…
The good bits…
- Pepper seems to really mature in this book.
- Jase I love the softer side of Jase.
And the not so good bits…
- I hate Mean Girls!!
Ok so I enjoyed the second book in the series but it’s not as sickly sweet as Pepped Up, this book seems to slide a bit closer the dark side.
Pepper seems to really grow and mature in this book, she has lost some of the innocence from the first book and we see her drinking, partying and experimenting with Jase.
I like seeing her embrace a more grown up attitude, unfortunately with it comes a lack of drive towards her racing and it was interesting to read about the psychological effects of pressure on athletes.
I love seeing the softer side of Jase he has really kicked up the protective side of his nature.
Wes is Jase’s brother I did not see that coming!!! but I love it.
I feel a bit sorry for Pepper in this book by becoming Jase’s girlfriend she moves into a world of bitchy girls and vengeful boys. This is definitely a coming of age novel for Pepper and I really engaged with her and the way she is dealing with the changes in her life.
I hate bitchy mean high school girls and Madeline and her clan are pure evil!!!
This book defiantly has a darker edge to it I mean Gangs, drug dealers and a group of boys trying to drag Pepper into a room WTF!!!
I feel like Jase really grew up in this book too and I loved how he embraced a relationship with both his brother and his mom.
I needed more Jase & Pepper time though for me there just wasn’t enough time when it was just them.
I liked this book it’s not as happy clappy as the first book but I enjoyed the more mature edge it has going on. I really hope this series continues as I would love to read about the couple more in the future it got 4 stars from me.
Are Jace and Pepper strong enough to withstand the pressure from those who want something from them? It won’t be easy fighting for her title and her boyfriend, but nothing easy is worth winning… or keeping.
Pepped up and ready is book #3 in the Pepper Jones Series, I was lucky enough to be gifted a copy of the book to read for Gemma Reads Too Much.
It’s been ages since I read the last book about Pepper and Jase but it didn’t take me long to get back into the story and the characters.
I really like Pepper her character is incredibly likeable and she really does seem to have matured since the previous book.
This book is all from Peppers POV but again I would love to get Jace’s perspective, he seems like such a complex character. He’s silent and brooding but I really love his quiet strength and barely restrained anger.
This is such a young couple but they have a really deep and consuming connection that I was incredibly drawn to. There’s just something about them that makes me love reading about them.
Is it weird that I adore Wes too? He’s obviously got some feelings for Pepper, I don’t think he would ever act on them but I almost feel sorry for him.
What I do think is that every book in this series gets a little darker and I kind of love it!!!
Mean girls, crazy stalkers I really embraced the darker edge to this NA story.
There is a definite Tijan vibe to this book which isn’t a bad thing because I LOVE the Fallen Crest Series and all things Tijan.
There’s an edgy vibe to this book and it really had me devouring this story desperate to find out what happens.
I really enjoyed this story I give it 4.5 stars.
