Incandescent by River Savage
Devil’s Knights MC #1

IncandescentPhoenix ‘Nix’ Knight thought pulling his club out of the illegal shit his Pops got them into was difficult.

Until he meets Kadence.

Kadence Turner has no business lusting over a student’s father, especially the president of the Knights Rebels MC. Nix is crass, obnoxious and dangerously sexy and for some reason, Kadence can’t seem to hate him for it. The bossy biker breaks down her defenses, but unlike the old Kadence, the woman she is today won’t give in without a fight.

The tension is undeniable, the attraction fierce. A man that wants what he wants and a woman that will fight him every step of the way.

Review 3 Stars

Incandescent is book #1 in the Devil’s Knights MC series and the first book I have read by this author.

I was recommended this book when I said I wanted a bossy biker book and well hell Nix is one seriously bossy biker. Truthfully he makes me go a bit weak at the knees when he goes into alpha mode, I kind of love it!!!

Nix is a bit of an enigma, he’s a well behaved biker and after reading so many 1% style biker books this straight and narrow idea was a bit strange to me. I’m not saying that Nix needed to be a deranged, drug smuggling murderer just that with the crime and violence comes an edgier more dangerous personality that makes a good ole biker just a bit more appealing.

I’m not entirely sure how I feel about Kadence, I swing from thinking she’s fab to wanting to shout at her. I’m not sure how old she is supposed to be but I think she’s twenties or early thirties but she acts like she’s in her fifties and I struggled to relate to her!!

I have to say that when she turns on her attitude she’s like a different person and I loved her snark and banter.

What the hell happened with Holly and Sy???? I’m assuming that the next book in the series will be their story but something intense is definitely going on there!!!

There are moments of tension filled brilliance in this book but instead of building and building to explode in an edge of my seat action scene, they sort of fizzled like a disappointing firework. I needed more tension, more drama hell more violence and biker retribution.

The sex was good if a little samey, lots of threats of spankings and dirty talk.

If this is the first MC book you’ve read you will love it, but I really like a good biker book so I’ve read loads and I love the simmer of danger that lurks around this taboo, uncivilised group. Unfortunately it meant that although well written and enjoyable this book did not set my world on fire.

Incandescent gets 3 stars from me.
