Untouchable Darkness by Rachel Van Dyken
The Dark Ones Saga #2
To love a Dark One is to invite death…
It is wrong to love her.
It is worse to want her.
It is sin to consume her.
I desire all three.
I’ve been given thirty days to prove my love to another immortal–as a human. Cursed to use nothing but the side of myself I’ve always despised to win her affection. I am Cassius, the King of the immortals, A Dark One.
And today I tasted fear for the first time.
How can I win her when my human emotions over take every ounce of logic I possess?
A darkness is brewing.
One I cannot stop as a human.
One that Stephanie, my loves visions, have shown, will be my end.
Thirty days ago I was King of the immortals.
Today I know fear.
Today I know how I will die.
By her hand.
The woman I love.
Untouchable Darkness is book #2 in the Dark Ones Saga, I was gifted an ARC to read for Gemma Reads Too Much.
I don’t read that many PNR books, I think it’s because I compare them all to Twilight and as good as some of them are, let’s be honest there not the brilliance that is Twilight.
I know there are a lot of Twilight haters out there, my response to that is ‘what the fuck is wrong with you!’ but we’re getting off topic. The reason Twilight was so good was because it left you craving more.
Untouchable Darkness gave me that buzz!
I enjoyed The Dark Ones but this book surpassed it and was just brilliant. The characters are all the paranormal beings we’ve seen before but again this book feels like a completely fresh take on the genre and I was enthralled.
Cassius and Stephanie have this incredibly consuming passion for each other, but their love has far reaching consequences that almost over shadow the love affair. This story twists and turns and spins you from being convinced you know how the story is going to play out to being completely blind sighted.
I LOVE Rachel Van Dyken and this is again another example of why the woman is a bloody genius!!
I love Ethan & Genesis, but Stephanie and Cassius’s love just felt epic in proportions and yet I’m still desperately looking forward to Alex and Mason’s stories.
I devoured every word of this book and now I’m finished I have a consuming need for more!
See what I mean…. Buzz!
Untouchable Darkness gets 5 brilliant stars from me.
