Fear Me by B.B. Reid
Broken Love #1
I believe in fear.
He taught me how to be afraid.
We first met on a playground on a wonderful summer day. It was the first time he hurt me and it wouldn’t be the last. For ten years, he’s been my tormentor and I’ve been his forbidden. But then he went away, and yet I was still afraid.
Now he’s back and wants more than just my tears. You see…he thinks I sent him away so now he wants revenge…and he knows just how to get it.
PLEASE READ THE WARNINGS. This book is a new adult and contains rough elements such as harsh language, mild violence, strong sexual content, alpha male, antihero, blackmail, and dubious consent.
Fear Me, in all, contains sensitive themes many people aren’t able to swallow.
Fear Me is book #1 in the Broken Love Series I grabbed this book as an Amazon freebie but after reading the warnings in the blurb I was a little hesitant to read it.
After seeking advice from my book nerd friends I decided to give it a shot.
This book is dark and fucked up and I bloody loved it!!!
Keiran is not a nice person.
From the first word we hear about him we learn he is a nasty bully who terrorises Lake torturing her daily for 10 years.
This story is not in the least romantic, because Lake and Kieran don’t exactly fall in love.
Kieran basically forces Lake into a sexual relationship and to say this book has dubious consent is the understatement of the year.
There are a lot of scenes between this couple that are seriously uncomfortable and I did question if this was something I wanted to read
I’m sort of loath to admit that even though Kieran was threatening and manipulating Lake, she was still very obviously attracted to him. This is a fucked up situation but she was definitely turned on by his asshole controlling ways.
I’m gonna pretend that he’s older than his actual 18 years because I’m in my 30s and it a bit weird to lust over a teenager.
Because Keiran is one seriously sexy character. He is Alpha with a capital asshole and angry and powerful and a fucking horrible person!!! But I was drawn to him and I kind of found myself totally falling for him.
There’s no denying that he’s an extremely dysfunctional, damaged, broken man. But I also completely understand why Lake is drawn to him and compelled to fix him.
Again discounting the characters ages the sex is in this book is unbelievably hot and very fantasy worthy.
This book ends on a huge cliff-hanger and I’m going straight into book 2 where honestly I’m hoping for much of the same brilliance that’s in this book.
Fear me is dark, twisted and brilliant 5 stars!
