Getting Rough

Getting RoughHotshot San Diego sports agent Shaw Matthews and his sexy professional adversary Cassidy Whalen have gone head-to-head in the boardroom—and the bedroom. Now Shaw has scored a big promotion—but only because Cassidy turned it down and ran off. There are many things he wants when it comes to Cassidy—just not her pity. So Shaw rushes to a small town in Maine to retrieve his dignity—and maybe the woman he’s hungry to claim once more.

Cassidy has pushed herself to the max to realize her career dreams—until a family crisis brings her home. But Shaw isn’t letting Cassidy go that easily. Neither is gorgeous heartthrob Casey Michaels, the childhood sweetheart she left behind—and who now wants to win her back. As the rivalry between the two alpha males intensifies, and Shaw’s seductive moves reach a whole new level of heat, Cassidy has to make a choice. And this time, it’s for the highest stakes of all.

Review 3.5 Stars

Getting Rough is book #2 in the Monkey Business Trio, I was lucky enough to be gifted a copy of the book to read for Gemma Reads Too Much.

I loved the first book so I was very excited to read this next instalment.

The story picks up right after the end of book #1 with Cassidy going to her parents and Shaw chasing after her like the love sick monkey he is.

There are glimpses of the raw sexual tension that was so evident in book #1 but this story is much deeper than just the angry sex. I enjoyed the depth but I missed all the angry, deviant sex lol.

Cassidy and Shaw have a very evident passion for one another and I think it morphed into this sweet romance that actually made my heart flutter a bit.

This book has some random Casey POV chapters and it was very interesting to see his and Cassidy’s relationship from his perspective. There’s a weird kind of obsession going on between Casey and Cassidy, she’s jealous of him not paying her any attention but she doesn’t really want him. And on Casey’s side I honestly don’t think he wants Cassidy as much as the idea of that perfect relationship.

The sweet sides of Shaw and Cassidy are lovely but honestly I preferred the competitive, insane versions of them.

I enjoyed this book and it has a hell of an ending, but in my opinion it wasn’t as good as book #1.

Getting Rough gets 3.5 stars from me.
