Redemption and Regrets by L.A. Cotton
Chastity Falls #4
Four years ago, I had everything. All it took was the snap of his fingers and he ripped it out from under me.
Betrayed, by my own father.
His enemies want me dead and old allies want me back in their ranks to help take what’s owed. And while I’m trying to figure out what I want, there’s her. The one I watch from the shadows, afraid to bare myself to her—the real me.
Hard. Cold. Deadly.
She should fear me—Braiden Donohue—but I’m not the only one keeping secrets, and I must discover what she’s hiding.
Before it’s too late.
Redemption will be afforded, regrets will be atoned.
Welcome back to Chastity Falls.
Redemption and Regrets is book #4 in the Chastity Falls Series, I was lucky enough to be gifted an ARC of the book to read for Gemma Reads Too Much.
This is Braiden’s book, yep evil Braiden; bully Braiden, the one we were all so happy to find rotting in prison.
I was not convinced that I would like this book.
But L.A. Cotton that bloody genius she managed to pull it off, she took the bad guy and made me love him.
The title of this book says it all Braiden grows a conscience and something about that growth, that acceptance that he was wrong makes him forgivable. This book gives him so many opportunities to fall back into his old ways and yet he stands firm and I loved that about him.
I’m just gonna throw it out there and do it….
(Stands up) My Names Gemma and I forgive Braiden Donohue!
This book was far too short for me, I was in it completely, consumed in the story and it flew by far too quickly.
Braiden’s still dark, don’t get me wrong the capability to be bad through and through is very much brewing under the surface, but he fights it, he tries to redeem himself.
It’s very rare that the bad guy becomes the hero but Braiden manages it. He saves the girl and in return she saves him too.
I loved this story, it was the perfect end to this series and for me the only way it could have ended.
Braiden may have found redemption but I love the fact that Briony is still a nasty vengeful piece of work.
This book still has some great twists and turns and honestly at the end of the book I don’t think we ever know who wins the ‘mob’ wars. I know this is the end of the series but the doors still open and there’s so many stories that could be told.
I wasn’t crazy on the epilogue but I’m a big red bow happy ending kind of a girl so the ambiguity of the unknown is hard for me to accept.
All in all this book was a revelation and I loved it.
Redemption and Regrets gets 4.5 stars from me.
Contemporary romance and romantic suspense
… written with feeling
L.A is author of contemporary romance novels ranging from sweet with just a hint of steam, to suspenseful reads full of angst, tension, twists and turns. Home is a small town in the middle of England where she currently juggles being a full-time mum to two little people with writing. In her spare time (and when she’s not camped out in front of the laptop) you’ll most likely find L. A immersed in a book, escaping the chaos that is life.
