***Release Day Blitz & Review***
Coast by Jay McLean
Kick Push #2
The boy who offered me safe touches and heart-stopping smiles – smiles he shared with his son.
We filled our days with porch-step kisses,
filled our ears with laughter,
filled our hearts with love.
Deep, soul-aching, desperate love.
But love is misleading.
It’s an invisible, fleeting moment.
Somewhere between false adoration and pure hatred comes an emotion, a vulnerable need, a single desire.
It lives within the ones who miss it, who crave it,
who know better than to expect it.
Love is relentless.
Even when that love turns to hate, turns to loathing,
turns to pain.
Love should heal you.
But it can also break you.
Believe me, I know…
Because I’m Becca Owens – a broken girl…
…And he’s Josh Warden – the boy who broke me.

Coast is book #2 in the Kick Push Series. I was incredibly lucky to be gifted an ARC of this book to read for Gemma reads too much.
Right off the bat I’m gonna say this book made me cry it was eyes welling several times to out and out ugly crying by the end.
I tried to read this book but after the first page I realised that to truly appreciate this story you really need to have Kick Push freshly in your mind so I did a quick reread and then ploughed on with Coast.
This is a serious slow burn book; it broke my heart again and again only to pull me back in with that hint of hope. That tiny slither of light at the end of the tunnel that everything was going to be ok.
There’s no instant gratification in this story. I honestly had no idea if this couple could find a happy ever after. But what’s so incredibly beautiful is the journey.
This book is all about the small moments, intricate moments of unadulterated joy. Where this couple forget all the things that force them apart and instead bask in the glimpses of pure happiness.
Becca is broken and at times I lost patience with her. Then something would happen and she would fall apart and remind me that she had some pretty serious mental health issues. In the end I concluded that God loves a trier and Becca is a trier. She might falter but she just keeps getting up.
What shines brightest from this book is that Josh Warden is PERFECT there’s no other way to describe him he’s just utter perfection. I love him and want to hug him and then just hug him again. UTTER PERFECTION.
Tommy steals the show but hell we all knew that was going to happen!!!
This book was a treacherous tale of hope, heartbreak and love. And I felt all those things over and over again.
Stunning 5 stars.
