Lucas by Jay McLean
Preston Brothers #1
In a sprint, every millisecond counts.
When you’re waiting for love, those milliseconds can feel like eons.
High school senior Lucas Preston has it all: star of the track team, a scholarship waiting for him, an apartment to himself and a revolving door of girlfriends. He also has an older sister, five younger brothers and a father who relies on him to make sure those brothers don’t kill each other.
His saving grace? Lois “Laney” Sanders, a girl he started to fall in like with when he was just eleven.
A girl who became his best friend, his confidant, his courage.
It took only sixteen clicks and eight seconds for Lucas to realize that his like for Laney had turned into love.
Eight life-changing seconds.
It’s also the exact length of time it took to lose her.
Epically, Epically good!!
Honestly I should really just end my review right there because those three words describe Lucas perfectly.
This book was intense, these words consumed me and even though I knew what happened to Kathy I still sobbed. I cried about Tom and Cam and Lucy. And I cried for Lucas and for Laney.
This book is a lifelong tale of fate and destiny. About children growing in to adults. Growing up but never apart.
But its so much deeper than just a love story. I love the family bonds and brotherly love. This books about unending support and devotion that makes my heart swell.
Lucas’s mom is a tiny part of this book but she packs a punch. That key. Yep I’m totally stealing that for my daughters 18th. I sobbed! !
I have to say the Cooper thing I guessed pretty early on. Don’t get me wrong I hate him. But he’s only a blip in this all consuming love story.
This review has been a little random but if you take nothing from it remember this. This book, this story is so good I’m struggling to tell you how much it consumed me. I got lost in this story and I lived the life with these characters.
I think this might actually be my favourite book by this author to date. Just brilliant!
